Those of you who have had a garment made by me before will know, that I go to great lengths to get you exactly what you want, this is after all, the whole point of having me make you something. Something unique, something that shows your personality, and your individuality.
When Caroline approached me about having something made she had a very clear idea of what she wanted, and I actually worked back to front and found a lining fabric first, then matched it to a tweed. I knew I had seen coloured fox head buttons before, in fact I had actually bought some off of eBay for previous commission, but could I find orange ones? No!
I was just set to compromise and have actually got some gold ones on their way, although they appear to be having a Covid party in a sorting office somewhere, along with some fabric and sewing patterns that I have also ordered. I put out an appeal on some business pages that I’m a member of and was pointed in the direction of Jones and Co, where I duly set up a trade account with and set about having some buttons made especially for Caroline. Not only that but they also manufacture at least 5 different buttons that I already use on a regular basis. Win win!
To say I am delighted that I can now offer my clients this service doesn’t quite cover it! Buttons are a huge part of any garment, and having the exact colour to match or compliment your fabric is the icing on the cake.
I am already seeing turquoise buttons for a certain repeat client, and maybe some purple ones for a tweed jacket I’m just about to start.
What colour buttons would you like? Let me know in the comments.
